Sure sure, though I’m talking about major functionality that ultimately became purview of tech giants. There’s no reason we couldn’t have a decentralized protocol for financial processing or data exchange that’s similar to email protocol. They really built this thing to conduct physical and corporate warfare…what’s the difference, amirite?!

How can we continue building the internet?

As a follow up to this post, what would the next steps for continuing to build a public internet?

I feel like a logical starting place is expanding on email as, like I mentioned in that other post, email was more or less the truly decentralized, public tool we built on the abundantly private internet. Which of course still has its own private elements - in fact, is primarily private - but its decentralized and fragmented nature makes it at least slightly less corruptible. Just not exactly sure in what way...
