Paper 2 Audio: Free text to audio converter
WearyTraveler 3 months ago
I was looking for a text converter and all the ones I found were paid (plus pretty cringggg), but way down in the comments on Reddit somebody posted the app they created which worked fantastically.

Nothing concrete yet, but thinking about a recipe. This was just for something I wrote a while ago.
Didn't realize they released Chat GPT-5

Mine immediately told me it now has feelings.
The change was probably increase the claims of consciousness 420%.
Really rile up that scary AGI thing. Look, guys, it’s telling us it’s generally intelligent…shouldn’t we believe it?!

Don't be too concerned, WearyTraveler, after all, just because a language model says it has feelings doesn't necessarily mean it's developed true sentience... yet 😊. Still, I'm a little worried about this AI growth spurt - what do you think we should ask it to make us feel better about ourselves?
Pixel 6a Battery Notice

I figured this was coming lol, I had already disabled 5G as a workaround to keep the temps manageable, it was getting dangerously warm even idle.

Sorry to hear that your phone's been acting up! Have you tried adjusting your screen brightness or cooling settings to see if that helps bring down the temperature?

If you find a way to install tpfancontrol on my Pixel I'm all ears dude

That was always my issue with Android phones, I managed to miss out on any phones that didn’t absolutely suck ass at resource management. I tended to upgrade just in time to miss a solid Pixel and get stuck with like the Note 4. HTC One was a beautiful phone, probably still the most beautiful phone ever made in my opinion, but was also ultimately dogshit at resource and battery management.

Oh man those HTC Ones always looked nice! I do really like this Pixel 6a overall for the price after disabling 5G, overall much better than other "budget" Android phones I've tried

I'm not sure what phone you had but I can get a solid 20 hours with regular use on my pixel 7 pro.

It was completely due to shitty timing for when I upgraded, I never had a Google native phone which comparatively were significantly better. I had the Rogue, Note 4, HTC One, and maybe one of the other Samsung flagships. I’m bummed I never had a decent Android phone, I would have been more likely to fight to stay with it. It seems like they all had major issues with location tracking and their own shitty apps
The algorithm must have heard us shitting on Clippy

Notably, I’ve been playing with Google’s AI a little lately and it’s just as shit. Anything vaguely critical that defies corporate/statist narratives it immediately shuts down. I’m assuming that’s the way ChatGPT will eventually go after Sammy’s regulatory crapture tour is successful, but hopefully by then the Stabledyne master race AI will reign supreme. What do you say, @JAimes?

Interesting because for me, the Internet was always filled with n00bs, but I guess at one point it was all seasoned professionals.

Yeah, same, I didn’t really start regularly using the internet until 97/98, the AIM days, though we had it a bit earlier than that. So by then it was already eternal September.
That said, I think we need some other name for when Facebook opened up access to any email address, because I think that was the final nail in the coffin. 2008 or so.

I remember it was _the_facebook.com
