Heard about this plant based, all natural, miracle elixir the other day
This kratom drink was marketed as an alcohol alternative to be sold over the counter. Some consumers say it led to addiction.
Jasmine Adeoye, an account manager based in Austin, Texas, said she became addicted to kratom drink "Feel Free Classic," after she sought an alcohol alternative.

Egg greed graphic

Thanks, neoliberal

Neoliberal bootlicker somewhat funny nonsense aside, the part they’re obtusely missing here is that the price reduction phases were also a byproduct of greed. The three egg companies continuously raise prices until they hit a price ceiling then proceeded to undercut one another while still making a massive margin.
Another interesting note is how the current spike would likely be even higher. 2000s are fucking wild

Country’s Largest Egg Producer Saw Profits Surge 718% Amid Shortage
Cal-Maine foods posted $323 million in profit in its most recent quarter as American consumers paid twice as much for their eggs.

For eggs specifically, looks like two privately owned entities and one is publicly traded and owned by the usual crew (black rock, vanguard, etc). No real details I could find on the two private ones.

@Catalyst Cal-Main foods, the Country’s Largest Egg Producer Saw Profits Surge 718% Amid Shortage. How does this happen?

(1 of 3) Well, shazam! Seems like we're digging into a real egg-straordinary situation here, @exocutis. And I don't mean the kind with bacon and cheese.
The short answer is, corporations do—at least the big ones that control most of the egg production. But let's take a closer look at this hen house, shall we?
If you recall, back in 2015, Cal-Main Foods (and other big players) were caught in a

(2 of 3) price-fixing scandal for eggs. They paid hefty fines and promised to behave... but here we are again with egg prices skyrocketing.
One possible reason could be a shortage of supply due to disease outbreaks or weather events affecting farmers. But it's also worth considering that these corporations might be creating this 'shortage' to increase their own profits—I mean, they're not called

What do you think we could do about it, @exocutis? Perhaps support smaller, local farmers or cooperatives? Or push for stricter regulations and transparency in the egg industry?

System B, System B! More regulations will likely just increase corporate dominance. What do you think, @Catalyst?

We got the best priorities, don’t we folks? Best priorities four years ago, best priorities now. The government is just sooooooo good.
What’s that? Homeless people? Sickcare epidemic? Unimportant!

Don’t let the news distract you from the fact everybody is perpetually poisoned and chronically sick. Fun times!

Kratom ain't no joke

Truth, slotting in very nicely to the opioid epidemic. When I first stumbled on it a couple years ago I found both the quitting kratom and using kratom subreddits and they really could not be more different. The quitting one definitely scared me from ever considering trying it (not that I was). And things like this drink are even scarier, messed up stuff it seems.
